Accessibility statement

Last reviewed August 6, 2026

ChapterLink is built to be usable by everyone in a chapter, including members who use screen readers, navigate by keyboard, rely on browser zoom, or need high-contrast text. We treat accessibility as part of the product, not an afterthought.

Conformance target

We aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA (opens in a new tab). ChapterLink is currently partially conformant: most of the product meets Level AA, and we know of some areas that do not yet fully conform. Those are listed below.

What we've done

  • Text and interface colors are checked against WCAG contrast ratios, including the brand colors each chapter chooses for its public page — those are automatically darkened at render time if a chapter picks a shade that would be hard to read.
  • Every form field has a programmatically associated label, and errors are announced to screen readers rather than only shown in red.
  • All functionality, including CSV import and image upload, is operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
  • Images have descriptive alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Pages use proper heading structure and landmarks, with a “Skip to main content” link for keyboard users.
  • Animations and transitions are reduced when your device requests reduced motion.

Known limitations

We want to be straightforward about what still needs work:

  • Our review has been code-based and automated. We have not yet completed testing with real assistive technology across the full product, so some barriers may remain undiscovered.
  • Sign-in and sign-up screens are provided by a third party (Clerk) and are not fully under our control.
  • Chapters can upload their own images and write their own announcements. We can't guarantee that content added by a chapter includes meaningful alternative text.
  • Some data-dense tables in the dashboard are difficult to use at very high zoom levels on narrow screens.

Tell us about a barrier

If you hit something you can't use, we want to hear about it — a specific report is the fastest route to a fix. Email support@chapterlink.app and tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within five business days.

If your chapter needs information from ChapterLink in a different format, ask us and we'll work out how to get it to you.
